My Funny

I remember the story told where my brother, Tim, came home from school sad because “Sally didn’t laugh at my funny.” My brother and I worked on funnies in comic strips and pictures…we loved to draw.

In 2005, I believe, I entered an art school by correspondence. It was so exciting at first and challenging. I’ve learned so much and continue to learn, though rather slowly now with my little one in tow. This past April I had the chance of entering a contest for cartooning, so, I thought I’d give it a try. My entry was one of 250 and was in the top 10% to be judged. I thought I would like to share it with you. Let me know what you think…did it make you laugh or smile? I hope to enter another contest…we’ll see how well I can keep up with everything.

The “funny” actually came from a true story Grandpop Valiante told us. I wonder if I’ll get to do more of these with the funnies from the Muth family memories =).

The Missions Trip was tremendous, and I was so proud of how our teens handled themselves and ministered.  Hope you enjoy!

Growing Up

Micah has been growing so much lately. We’re so proud of him! Of course it really is the LORD that allows him to make progress. Praise the LORD for progress!

Now at four months Micah has already begun the teething process…lots of drooling and lots of crying (poor little guy!). He’s been much more attentive and focuses on everything. Some favorites are Daddy’s big birthday balloon and pictures in a book. Daddy likes to read to him. Mommy was fascinated by Micah following where Daddy was reading, it almost seemed as though he was following the words (of course we all think our kids are geniuses…but Micah really is!).

Physically Micah is taking some leaps in the area of mobility. He has finally learned that being on his tummy can be very comfortable. Daddy thinks he is ready to crawl and gives him much practice. Micah’s legs are strong and he loves to “stand” and has just found the enjoyment of kicking and squirming while being changed. He loves that game!

This weekend we look forward to meeting our little nephew Aaron Muth. Micah is excited to see his cousin and wonders if he is almost as tall as Aaron is. We can’t wait to see Uncle Michael and Aunt Jenny, too. Hope they have a safe trip.

SHHH!

Just wanted to give you the inside scoop on Mom and Dad…they’re lots of fun when they’re left alone! – Micah

Doing Well

Micah has been doing very well over the past number of weeks.  He is eating well, and for the last week and a half, he has been sleeping all the way through the night (9-11 hours).  We daily thank the Lord for our little boy.

We have been wanting to post the pictures of Grandmom Muth’s visit with us for a number of weeks now.  It was a blessing for me to have my mom here during Micah’s fourth week, which was probably my toughest week emotionally and physically.  She was a great help in fixing meals and taking care of Micah while I rested.  She also taught us a few things about Roast Beef and Chicken (some great staples for a week of food).

Having Mom here helped me to see some new things about being a parent…how to have fun with my baby and how to include him in the daily tasks of home life.  She has much wisdom having raised 6 children; and now with three grandchildren in the home I am sure she is still enjoying the fun of childhood. I am grateful for so many fun memories of my family…marching around the house to the beat of oatmeal drums and running from Dad, the Mad Dog!  Maybe someday all of the Muth children will be able to put in writing our most favorite memories of childhood…and it was all because Mom and Dad enjoyed having a house full of kids!  Love you, Mom and Dad!

Micah enjoyed having Grandmom Muth here too!  Maybe she can come again sometime.

So Much!

The last few weeks have really flown by, and Micah is getting so big.  At his last doctor’s appointment, he was 9 lbs 12 oz.

Below are some of the pictures from the events over the past few weeks.

While I was on vacation, Sarah and I took Micah up to Mom and Dad Valiante’s for the weekend.  Micah had the chance to meet both sides of my family (Altomares and Valiantes).  We had the Altomares over on Saturday Night, and the Valiantes over on Sunday Night.

Micah’s great-grandmom loved holding him.  From the minute she came in, Grandmom got to hold Micah, and he enjoyed being in her arms for the next three hours.  It was such a blessing to see my grandmom holding her first great-grandchild.

Here is a picture of Micah surrounded by his Grandmom and Great-Grandmom.  HOW WONDERFUL!

Not only did Micah get to meet his great-grandmom, he also got to know some of his great aunts and uncles.  Uncle T enjoyed getting to know our little one.

Aunt Em said that holding Micah reminded her of holding me when I was a baby.  She took care of me at the day care that John and I went to when we were little.  Looking back, it was so special to have an aunt there to take such good care of me.

On to the other side of my family.  Here my Aunt Kathy, Aunt Sue and cousin Sarah gathered around Micah.

Uncle Ron was not sure if he would be able to make it up to see Micah on Sunday, but we were all glad that he was able to make it over in time to hold his great-nephew.

This was the first time that Aunt Andrea got to see her nephew.  She is a wonderful Aunt and loving every minute of it.

After that whirlwind tour, Micah got to visit with Grandmom Muth all last week.  We will post all the pictures from that visit in our next post.

Grandmom came to visit all last week, and we had a great time! It was wonderful getting to know Grandmom better.

Daddy has had lots of opportunities to hold me since he is on vacation all this week. I love all of the attention.

On Saturday and Sunday, I’m looking forward to meeting all of my family on daddy’s side. There are going to be lots of names to remember!

Last Saturday, I enjoyed a visit from my Uncle John and Aunt Ruth. I had heard so much about them, and I was so glad to finally meet them.

Uncle John holds me, and I didn’t fuss one bit.

Aunt Ruth loved holding me. I look forward to many other opportunities to see my Aunt and Uncle again.

Mommy and Micah

Mommy and Micah take a much deserved little nap.  Micah is blessed to have such a wonderful and loving mom.

Micah ponders the deep things of life… like milk, sleep, diaper changes and so on.

Daddy’s Boy

The first picture was taken yesterday of Micah. The second picture was taken shortly after I was born. Micah and I share the same color of hair: light brown with blond highlights (and a lot of it). The only difference between my hair at birth and Micah’s is that mine was curly whereas his is straight like his mommy’s. In all, he’s a sweet and cute little boy!
